Everything about John Griffin Boxer totally explained

John Charles Griffin, better known as Corn Griffin, (born July 24, 1911 in Blountstown, FL) was an American heavyweight boxer. Griffin is best known for being a rising heavyweight defeated by James Braddock in his comeback bout in the movie "Cinderella Man", starring Russell Crowe.

Professional career

Griffin turned professional in 1931 with much promise, but was KO'd by Bob Godwin in 1933. His career spiraled downward after his loss to Braddock in 1934.
During his career he worked as a sparring partner for former world heavyweight boxing champion Primo Carnera.

Outside the ring

After his boxing career Griffin became a police officer in Columbus, GA. According to the 1950-08-25 Panama City News-Herald, he didn't carry the traditional policeman's club "since his old one-two sledgehammer-like fists are as good as ever, but may be not as fast."
Griffin also served in the United States Army.
